Abby McLain

Medicare Advantage Assistant

How can you assist SBS clients?
I am the go-to girl for any and all questions related to Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans! I assist clients and agents in navigating and resolving any questions or issues that come up pertaining to their Medicare Advantage plans!

Who has inspired you the most either personally or professionally?
My mom has single-handedly my biggest role model. She had a pretty turbulent childhood and faced a lot of obstacles as a young adult. For most of our childhood, she raised my brother and I as a single mother, working up to 5 jobs at one time. All the while, she gave us everything we could ever need or want. She never makes excuses and always goes the extra mile in everything she does. She would drop everything to help someone in need. She has the kindest heart and is the funniest person I know! She’s been my strongest support system and is truly my best friend. She shaped me into who I am today. She is without a doubt a superhero!

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I own a small photography business based out of Columbia. I shoot everything from weddings and families to seniors, grads and babies! I started dabbling in photography when I was about 16, and since, I’ve been able to grow my business and work with individuals all across the state of Missouri! I also love to write and perform music. I play piano, guitar, mandolin, ukulele and am learning to play the banjo. Last but not least, I love spending time with my dog, Maya! I adopted her in November of 2017 and we love to go to local dog parks, go for walks & eat lots of peanut butter!

Who is your favorite musician or band?
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve idolized Dolly Parton. Her music has always been such a big part of my life. She could sing the ABC’s and make me cry!

Tell us about yourself!
I was born in Birmingham, AL, and was raised in Princeton, MO since I was 7 years old. I grew up on a farm and with a graduating class of 33 students. I was raised in an amazing community with incredible mentors. After high school, I attended University of Missouri-Columbia and received my BA in Organizational Communication and a minor in Psychology. During the majority of my college career I worked in retail. That’s where I discovered my love for helping others! I’m a very sentimental person who loves to build close relationships with those I work with! On the weekends, you can find me enjoying the local food scene, at the dog park or at a photo shoot!
