CMS or Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will be sending out new, more secure Medicare cards starting in April, 2018. This process will take some time, so you may not receive your card the same time as your family, friends or neighbors. CMS expects that all Medicare beneficiaries should receive their cards by April, 2019.

The new Medicare cards will no longer show your Social Security Number in order to help keep your personal information more secure and help protect your identity. You will be assigned a new Medicare Number that’s unique to you and your Medicare coverage.

To ensure you receive your new Medicare Card, make sure your mailing address correct with Social Security. If your address needs to be corrected, contact Social Security at www.ssa.gov/myaccount  or 1-800-772-1213. If your address is already accurate, no need to worry, your card will be mailed to you!
